GAS APPLIANCES REGULATION
The Gas Appliances Regulation (EU) 2016/426 prescribes compliance of the essential safety requirements of appliances used for cooking, heating, hot water production, refrigeration, lighting and washing, which burn gaseous fuels and have a normal water temperature, if used, no higher than 105°. The directive also covers blown air burners and heat exchangers designed to be equipped with such burners. Lastly, regulating, controlling and safety devices and sub-assemblies intended for separate marketing are also covered by this directive.
In particular, appliances and devices covered by the scope of the Regulation shall, prior to being placed on the European market:
- demonstrate compliance with the essential safety requirements of the directive
- demonstrate to be controlled by a notified body that certifies compliance and monitors production, bearing the CE marking followed by the notified body’s identification number.
It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the directive by contacting a notified body, such as MTIC InterCert (notification number 0068), for the type examination and for production control according to the indicated and chosen modules.
